Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel Cinematic Universe Suicide Squad

The Suicide Squad: Could Sylvester Stallone Be The New Vin Diesel?

King Shark v. Groot…

Nothing beats a good comic book movie quite like a big name star who plays the breakout the character. In the upcoming The Suicide Squad, Rocky star, Sylvester Stallone will be taking on the role of King Shark, a new member of the anti-hero group. This will not be the first time he has worked on a James Gunn film.

The veteran actor worked with Gunn on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 where he played Stakar Ogord, according to Sly’s MCU Fandom page.

Now, the reason we’re here is because there is no denying that King Shark will be a fan-favourite so that begs the question whether Stallone will be placed in a similar light as fellow Guardians of the Galaxy cast mate, Vin Diesel.

Now, for those who don’t know what we mean, let us explain.

Vin Diesel plays Groot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe who has become a fan-favourite because of Baby Groot. Who doesn’t love the tree man who calls Rocket Racoon ‘dad’? We know we do! Talk about adorable!

Why Do People Love Groot?

Now, the reason people love Groot is because he can only say one thing which can translate into millions of other sayings. For instance, in Avengers: Infinity War, he swears at Guardians team leader, Peter Quill after being told repeatedly to put his video game away. The team react harshly to whatever he says as they understand what he just said to them. His offensive quip was reacted to by Rocket who threatens to destroy the game if he doesn’t do as asked.

How Will People Love King Shark?

Stallone really hit the jackpot with the role of King Shark. Depending on how the character was written, he could have the same effect on the audience as Groot does. Now, there’s a lot of things we don’t know about the character of yet. One of those is whether he will be able to string together full sentences.

The reason we question this is because other iterations of King Shark have been able to talk. One example is in the animated series, Harley Quinn:

Though, this version doesn’t do violence like biting people’s heads off all the time. Though, he will do it if there is a need for it.

We very seriously doubt Stallone would agree to play the role if all he was doing was making shark noises.
