13 Memorable Quotes From Stargirl Season 1

Stargirl Season 1

Stargirl Season 1 has come and gone so quickly! We’ve had so much fun covering the first season and cannot wait to cover Season 2. In the meantime, we thought we’d reveal what our favourite quotes for Courtney’s first outing as Stargirl.

With Stargirl Season 1 over, we thought we would mention our favourite quotes. There are so many to pick from. Originally, the idea was to pick one from each episode, but it’s difficult to choose just one. What we’ve decided to do, is choose the best line of dialogue and try to match it with the best image we can so people can identify the scene better.

So, without further ado, let’s launch into this!

[Please be advised that this post contains spoilers for the entirety of Stargirl Season 1]

1. Anything Said By Mike Dugan

Mike Dugan, Courtney’s younger stepbrother was a standout in Stargirl Season 1 given how quirky he is. Almost anything that comes out of his mouth is comedy gold! It’s hard to pick just one quote. Here’s two of our favourites:

Good-bye In-N-Out, good-bye friends, good-bye indoor plumbing.

Mike in 1×01: Stargirl/Pilot

The first quote from Stargirl Season 1 that we loved from Mike were his complaints about moving to Blue Valley. We love the idea of him thinking that the place is away from civilisation. Pat tells him they’re moving to Nebraska, not Siberia.

Say hello to the family!

Mike in 1×05: Hourman and Doctor Mid-Nite

This moment shows how quirky he is and how incredibly creative he is when it comes to his imagination as seen with his jack-o-lanterns. Is it just us or was the bit where he’s patting the pumpkin the creepiest part of that whole scene?

2. “Come on sidekick. Don’t flake on me now.”

Courtney’s relationship with stepdad, Pat starts out as frosty and we’re not talking the Icicle kind. She didn’t like the idea of her mother moving on with someone that wasn’t her dad whom she hoped would come back into their lives.

The quote we’ve chosen comes from the second episode of Stargirl Season 1, ‘S.T.R.I.P.E’ when Stargirl herself recruits Pat to the new JSA. This also shows that if there is one person she wants watching her back in the field, it’s her stepfather.

3. “Welcome to Blue Valley, Courtney.”

The first interaction Courtney has with Cameron Mahkent during the ‘Icicle’ episode might not mean much or seem that memorable, but it sets off a chain of events involving the two teens. They see the good the other has done for someone else.

Cameron saw how Courtney lied to Joey Zarick about getting his card trick right. Courtney, meanwhile, noticed the painting on Yolanda’s locker. She then saw the drawings in the margin of Cameron’s work and knew he was the one who had done the painting. It is also the beginning of the crush the two develop on each other.

4. “Okay, question. If the ISA is a bunch of murdering freaks, shouldn’t we be looking beyond Blue Valley High?”

Yolanda found her confidence by joining Courtney as the first recruit outside of Pat for the JSA’s second generation. In ‘Hourman and Doctor Mid-Nite’, Courtney and Montez begin talking about recruits as they walk the halls of BVHS.

When they’re talking, they both consider Artemis Crock but dismiss her because she’s too competitive.

5. “Why Are You Talking About Yourself In The Third Person?”

One of the stand out quotes in Stargirl Season 1 is Beth‘s line in the episode, ‘Hourman and Doctor Mid-Nite’ when she meets the AI of Charles McNider first time. What makes this so memorable is how they greet each other with humour.

The humourous exchange here becomes a recurring thing throughout the rest of the season between Beth and Chuck. This stops when Icicle destroys the goggles in the Season finale which is devastating for the new Doctor Mid-Nite. This leads her to question what her purpose is without her best pal.

6. “Maybe Next You’ll Lift With Your Legs.”

Despite not appearing a load in Stargirl Season 1, Larry Crock and Paula Brooks were normally always together. This quote comes from Tigress herself when she criticises her husband for complaining when they bury the body of the latest football coach they’ve just killed for criticising their daughter’s abilities.

This quote also takes a swipe at Larry for being out of practice of being a villain.

7. “Sure. Let Me Just Go Take Out A Quick Loan.”

One of the best quotes from Pat in Stargirl Season 1 is his line about taking a loan for all Mike’s food requests at the homecoming football game in ‘Shiv Part One’. What makes this line on that stands out the most is how random it is. It’s also on par with the idea that he is Mike’s dad and where he got his sense of humour from.

8.”You know what I realized from yesterday? We’re not that different you and me. in fact, we’re kind of similar.”

Cindy has a point when she says in ‘Shiv Part Two’ that she and rival Courtney are not so different. They both have daddy issues for one but for totally seperate reasons. Dragon King is neglectful and Sam Kurtis is a deadbeat parent who abandoned Courtney and Barbara.

9. “Don’t Look At Me. I Took French.”

Now, this quote might be all that memorable, but theres a reason we’ve included it here. This line of dialogue tells us a lot about Cameron without giving away much context.

First off, we learn that he doesn’t actually understand or speak Norwegian. This delicate in regards to his father and grandparents. They spoke an evil grace in their native tongue which wasn’t taught to Cameron.

Secondly, this goes to show he doesn’t know that his father is Icicle or that his grandparents know about it.

10. “You’re Right. People Are Good. Don’t Let This Change Your Mind.”

Henry King Jr was one of the few antagonists we felt sorry for outside of Jordan. His life was horrible given his mother died when he was young and and his father made his life a living hell.

However, when his father went into a coma, Henry felt alone and wanted his dad to wake up. His relationship with Cindy suffered as he was struggling and she simply didn’t care. We learn also that he hated himself after Yolanda’s nude photo scandal almost destroyed her life and that his bad behaviour reflected on the people he was associated with.

Eventually, he came to realise that his dad wasn’t who he thought he was and it was his failure to save Brainwave from himself that killed him as he tried to fight the devil himself and lost. This caused his new friends within the JSA to come to the realisation that the threat of the ISA needs to be stopped.

11. “Courtney, The Staff Is Stupid Then.”

During the episode ‘Shining Knight’ Courtney comes face-to-face with her biological father, Sam Kurtis for the first time in 10 years. Turns out, the man is nothing but a conman who wants her locket because it’s priceless.

When Courtney stops believing in herself, the Cosmic Staff stops working. After talking to her friends at school, Rick says the staff is stupid if it thinks she has to be Starman’s daughter for it to work for her.

Rick’s words here are not just to reassure Courtney that she’s a superhero regardless if the cosmic staff works for her. They are to show that he, Yolanda, and Beth will stand with her no matter what.

12. “Please Pat, it’s me. It’s Courtney… Your daughter. Ever since we came to Blue Valley, you’ve been there for me, every time I needed you. I need you now, Pat. I really, really need you.”

The two part season finale puts Courtney and Pat’s father-daughter relationship to the ultimate test. When the ISA starts broadcasting Brainwave’s frequency, the adults in Blue Valley are put under his control, including Pat and Barbara.

Courtney, knowing how desperate they are, appeals to her stepfather and refers to herself as his daughter for the first time. When he does snap out of it, he tells her that he heard everything she said.

13. “I see you in there, Eclipso.”

One of the last lines of dialogue in Stargirl Season 1 is from Cindy where she introduces one of the big threats for Season 2; Eclipso who is currently trapped in a diamond.
